Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B (2016)

Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B is a 2016 pinoy horror movie starring Ryza Cenon (Jewel)
and Martin del Rosario (Nico). Jewel lives a simple life in an urban apartment. She
rarely get out of her room at daytime except if she wants to breath fresh air in the
building terrace. Aside from being simple, she has a horrible secret that is different
to normal tenants in the building. She is a manananggal or a flying creature that will
temporarily separate from her lower body to look for victims to quench her thirst of
blood.

When her stomach begins to feel uneasy which is actually an unusual hunger, she needs
to rub some oil to go back to normal and that's where she needs to go out as a party
girl and look for someone that will join her in the dark to also become her victim. The
victims are usually males with their flesh torn apart from their bodies. She also
placed some signboards in the victim's body stating that "I am a pusher.." to make them
look like a murder victim involving drug issues.

Later, Nico and her grandmother settled on the same building which made them close even
in a short time. However, after watching the news that someone was murdered where he
saw Jewel get in that guy's car, he stayed away from Jewel for a while. They again get
along later on when she helped Nico pay the hospital bills when his grandmother got
sick which later died.

One night, due to extreme sadness, they immediately get along again and started making
out but Jewel felt the same problem and left Nico from his room. Nico followed her and
he witnessed how Jewel transformed and get out of the building with her current form.
When she got back, Nico stayed and again witnessed how Jewel returned to human form.
The neighbors also noticed that incident due to the noise that Jewel made.

Before the police arrived, Nico took Jewel away from the area and decided to go with
her anywhere wherever life love leads them.

The Ghost Bride (2017)

The Ghost Bride is a 2017 pinoy horror movie starring Kim Chiu as Mayen. The story started when Mayen's dad became sickly and she don't have much to give him proper medications. Aside from that, they also have other problems in the family.

One day, Angie (Alice Dixson) had a business proposal to Mayen offering large amount of money in exchange for becoming a Ghost Bride. This is a Chinese tradition wherein someone has to marry a dead man with conditions to always wear the bracelet as a sign of agreement. A special wedding ritual is also done to bind the two.

At first, Mayen agreed and wore the bracelet which was strictly emphasized by Angie if she doesn't want bad things to happen to her family. However, when she started to experience strange things, she tried to remove the bracelet from her wrist but it keeps coming back every time she removed it.

Removing the bracelet also resulted some strange illnesses to her dad and also danger to the rest of the family members. She also experience how the bracelet defended her when someone tried to do bad things to her like her businessman neighbor. With these incidents, she tried to investigate on the other consequences of this ritual. Afterwards, Mayen discovered that Angie is a member of a syndicate that always recruit girls to become a Ghost Bride.

To get away from the agreement, Mayen has to fight and claim his father's soul from the groom which she also needs to fly to China. They also need to do a counter ritual to prevent the bad spirit to do harm to her other family members. Mayen succeeded after fighting the spirit of the groom which placed her life in greater danger.

The Debutantes (2017)

The Debutantes is a 2017 pinoy horror movie starring Sue Ramirez (Kate). The movie talks about revenge after being humiliated shamed in front of her classmates.

Kate is a strange and weird girl who wants to be friends with the popular girls in school such as Lara (Miles Ocampo), Jenny (Jane De Leon), Candice (Michelle Vito) and Shayne (Chanel Morales). Kate and Lara became friends after asking her to tutor one of their subjects to pass. They became close after that favor was granted by Kate.

However, during the debut party, Kate was humiliated by Lara's friends without her knowledge that this will happen. Due to this, Kate was really upset and rejected all Lara's calls. After a while she then accepted Lara's apologies after her effort f asking forgiveness.

The night came when Kate starts to have strange dreams about the girls dying. Kate tries to warn the girls in order to save them, but they don't listen to her. Kate started to feel uneasy when something bad is about to happen. As a result, each of the girls started to die strangely one by one.

Later, she discovered that the one who killed the girls one by one was her imaginary friend Juana. An enchanted creature who is hiding in a kid's body whom she already knew when she was still young. They remained friends even in her current teenager life. The kid is not human and it came from the outside world of enchanted ones but Kate treated her as her best friend since Juana is always there for her. Juana did the revenge after Kate was treated inappropriately by her so called new friends.

Lara was the last one that should have been killed but Kate interrupted Juana and instead stabbed herself after knowing that they had already united even when they were young. Lara lived when she was saved by Kate but it's only temporary.

Amalanhig: The Vampire Chronicles (2017)

Amalanhig is a 2017 pinoy horror movie starring Jerico Estregan as Dan.

In Visayan mythology, Amalanhig is believed to be an evil creature in Hiligaynon speaking groups in Panay Island. A monster with extreme thirst of human blood similar to zombies and vampires, and so with Aswang.

The story started when the Dan's team have a hold of a diary written a long time ago by a victim of Amalanhig. It was stated in that diary that they violated the old traditions that cost their lives.

Due to this, the team headed to San Sebastian to look for Amang Kulas, an old folk that is known to be knowledgable about Amalanhig. Their aim is to investigate further on this incident as also part of their school project. They successfully met him but Amang Kulas warned them not to proceed in going that place because of the evil spirits and the dangers that they might face but due to their eagerness, they still headed to that place up to the old man's residence.

They were allowed to stay camping outside the old man's house. However, due to their excitement, some of the team members entered an old ruins to explore. Out of their curiosity, they discovered something inside where the possessed Amalahig is resting so this caused their lives in danger.

Amang Kulas later disclosed about the Amalanhig who is actually his brother who turned into a monster due to the bad experiences in his life where his wife and daughter were killed. He turned himself into a blood thirsty creature that killed the previous visitors of their place including the one that wrote the diary.

With this, Amang Kulas decided to end the Amalanhig's rage but almost failed to do it. Fortunately, Dan helped him and stabbed the Amalanhig using the dagger that is believed to be the only weapon that could kill the monster.

Dan and his girlfriend were the only ones who survived fighting with the Amalanhig but they didn't know that it's not over yet.

Bloody Crayons (2017)

Bloody Crayons is a pinoy horror and suspense movie starring Janella Salvador as Eunice, Jane Oineza as Olivia, Elmo Magalona as Kiko, Ronnie Alonte as John, Sofia Andres as Marie, Diego Loyzaga as Kenly, Maris Racal as Rich, Yves Flores as Justin, Empoy Marquez as Gerard, and Nanding Josef as Mang Pedring.

This movie was based on the novel "Bloody Crayons".

As graduating students, they decided to go to an island to shoot for a short film project. In this island, the old summer house of Olivia's family was built which was believed to have unsettled spirits haunting at night. They need to stay here while shooting the film in which the caretaker Mang Pedring is also assisting them on their needs.

Later, the trouble started when Olivia discovered that his boyfriend Kenly had a secret affair with Marie which caused her to get mad and even get disappointed with Eunice, her close friend that acts as the guardian of the team who also kept the secret after discovering it couple of weeks ago. Olivia tried to avoid them all which also caused some problems while shooting their project. However, she later joined the team claiming that she's not angry anymore and ready to finish the short film.

One night, the team decided to play a game called Bloody Crayons in which each color has different consequences about honesty, rules, and many more. It was fun at the beginning but it gets more serious when few things are revealed. The last one who can get the red crayon will drink all the stuffs placed on the plastic glass where the name Bloody Crayons was derived.

When Olivia got the chance to request for a consequence, she asked Kenly to kiss her without malice and as a sort of closure which will have permission from Marie but the kissing did not happen after Olivia cut it.

One night, they decided to play the Bloody Crayons game and everyone got excited. Some sanctions of the game are funny and some are dangerous in the sense that they don't know the impact of it. Unfortunately, Marie got the last red crayon which means that she needs to drink the mix but she's game for it. While drinking it, she felt uncomfortable with the taste and started to vomit. Olivia suggested to give her water from Marie's own tumbler but it worsened the scenario that resulted to her death.

The team panicked and started to blame Olivia for a suspected poisoning as revenge. Olivia escaped and ended to fall off the cliff. This is where the horrible things happened when Kenly was slit to death in his neck so each one is suspecting one another causing them to kill each other and die also from the rage of the killer.

With the terrible things happening, Eunice, John and Kiko stayed protecting themselves. Olivia also came back claiming that she didn't die in the cliff but this made them suspect her as the killer. John also discovered that there is a secret passage near to the cliff which was possibly used by Olivia.

It was later revealed that her target are only Kenly, Marie and Eunice but since others are killing each other, it lessened her burden. Kiko was later killed and Eunice tried to escape near the cliff where she encountered the angry Olivia wanted to kill her as the last. Luckily, John is still alive and he saved Eunice from Olivia. Olivia fell off finally at the cliff after asking forgiveness from Eunice which ended the horrible scenario at that night.

I Love You To Death (2016)

I Love You To Death is a 2016 pinoy horror movie starring Kiray (Gwen) and Enchong Dee (Tonton). The movie talks true love that caused the horror to happen to each of them.

Gwen and Tonton are childhood friends and they used to promise each other that they will be together and get married in the future. Tonton even gave Gwen a ring as a symbol of their forever and undying love. However, due to unexpected times, Gwen made new friends which have bully attitude and she became one of them. That is the time when she pushed Tonton out of her life to gain her friends' trust. Tonton was hurt that time but he knew that it was not the Gwen that he loved.

Times passed and they both become teenagers but their friendship did not go back to where it used to be. One day, Gwen is waiting for a vehicle to go to school but she got robbed by a man in bike taking her phone. Tonton tried to catch the man but they were both bumped in the middle of the road leaving the two dead. Gwen was unaware that Tonton died because of her.

After few years, Gwen wished that someone would come and marry her. In her birthday, Tonton came surprising her after having no contact for years. Tonton told her that he didn't forget Gwen even if they have not seen each other for a long time. He also proposed to Gwen. Her friends did not agree with Tonton's idea to marry her as soon as possible.

This is the time when all those who are against with Tonton died one by one. All of Gwen's friends also died.

Later, Gwen discovered that it is not Tonton that is inside his body but but the one who robbed her in the street that died along with Tonton.

They later get together when Gwen died.

San Lazaro (2011)

San Lazaro is a 2011 horror drama film starred by Ramon Bautista (Limuel), Nico Manalo (Biboy) and Wincy Aquino Ong (Sigfried) who also directed the movie. This movie is about a possession of an evil spirit hungry for some secrets.

Sigfried is a hard working employee but he always end up losing his job. One day, his classmate Limuel contacted him asking for help about something. When they met, Limuel told him that he needs help for his brother Biboy who is possessed by an unknown evil spirit. He claimed that his brother even ate their dog alive which horrified Sigfried.

Biboy’s strange attitude started when his girlfriend left him for another man and he didn’t even discover who it was. Limuel was alerted when Biboy once called his daughter and told her that he will visit on the girl’s birthday and eat her. When Limuel discovered from the caller ID that it is Biboy who called her daughter, he seek for help on how to cure or stop the spirit from conquering Biboy’s body.

He started to search for help and discovered about San Lazaro, the place where the great paranormal expert lives who happened to be Sigfried’s uncle.

After that, they decided to bring Biboy to San Lazaro to get some help from the paranormal expert. San Lazaro is aslo well-known for horror stories about some who died after going there. Along the road, they experienced a lot misunderstanding and later settled for their purpose. They even met a guy who tried to rob them but was killed by Biboy out of hunger. Biboy craves for blood which made him very dangerous if get out from the car.

Since San Lazaro is very far from the city, Sigfried called his uncle and ask for help to neutralize Biboy while they are still on the road. This time, they used salt and made it as a necklace for Biboy to let him lead the way to where the spirit is located.

Later, they arrived to Sigfried’s uncle’s house and immediately started to ritual to set Biboy from the evil spirit but something unfortunate happened when his neck was bitten by Biboy. His vocal cord was damaged so he cannot speak and do the ritual anymore.

Sigfried took over and later discovered from his uncle that the spirit is hungry for a “dark secret” which was related on Biboy’s past when his girlfriend left him. Sigfried asked Limuel to whisper him a dark secret that no one knows. Limuel then whispered that he is “Captain Barbel”, the name of the guy in the cellphone whom Biboy was left out for by his girlfriend. This is where the spirit set free from Biboy’s body and everything’s back to normal.     

Mang Kepweng Returns (2017)

Mang Kepweng Returns is a 2017 pinoy horror comedy movie starring Vhong Navarro as Kiefer whom his nickname is derived from his father the original Mang Kepweng.

This movie is a remake of the 1979 film originally starred by the late comedian actor Chiquito.

Kiefer is a hardworking guy despite the strange things that is repeatedly happening to him. He usually see ghost wherever he goes – at work or home. With these instances, he still survived the daily routine in his life.

His mother, Aling Milagros (Jacklyn Jose) has been secretive about Kiefer’s origin especially about his father. Besides the circumstances, she already knew that the strange things that Kiefer saw are part of his destiny. When she had finally decided on letting Kiefer know his roots, they went to the province to see Zach (James Blanco), his step brother of the same father.

Later, he discovered that he is the destined one to use the magical handkerchief which is an inheritance from his father. The handkerchief contains unexplained power that could heal diseases and fight bad elements. The fairies also oriented him about the power of the handkerchief and handed him the book of knowledge that could help him in healing and fighting bad elements.

When he started to wear the handkerchief to his head, it indicates the return of Mang Kepweng, the great healer (albularyo). He first healed Zach’s wife who was possessed by the witch.

This incident alerted the witch and immediately sent his allies to spy on Kiefer. He wanted to know if it’s really true that Mang Kepweng had returned and was later confirmed. Kiefer’s friends also came to visit him and later decided to stay. Kiefer also met Allysa (Kim Domingo) which at first he has no interest but later fell in love with her.

The witch started to send someone to seduce Kepweng but did not succeed. With such despair, he sent some food which poisoned Allysa that serves as his puppet to kill Kiefer.

With this, Kiefer faced the bad healer witch and almost got defeated but with the help of his father’s spirit and the prayers from her mother, he had survived and killed the witch.

Halik sa Hangin (2015)

Halik Sa Hangin is a 2015 pinoy horror movie starring Julia Montes (Mia), Gerald Anderson (Gio), and JC de Vera (Alvin). This is a movie about a haunted love that caused a young woman’s life and the people around her to be in danger. Halik Sa Hangin literally means in English as “kiss to the wind” which also imply kissing to nothing.

The movie started when Mia was brought to Baguio along with her family by her stepfather to start a new life after his father died falling off the bridge. She is still in grave sadness remembering her childhood with her father.

At school, since she is still new, she encountered many instances of bullying and taught herself to overcome those. Aside from these incidents, Mia met someone who captured her attention. It’s Gio, a loner-type guy and a music lover. Together they shared experiences about life which they both discovered that they have similarities in some of it.

Mia also learned that the cause of Gio’s sadness is Quinn, the woman that she loved before and who broke his heart.

After spending few days together, they fell in love with each other as Gio taught her on how to play the new guitar bought by Mia. They spend most the time on the tourist spots in Baguio. Another instance happened when the bully school mates of Mia tried to disturb her but Gio came to the rescue which brought fear to them.

Later, Mia’s friends and family approached her about an incident that resulted to the death of her bully school mate. They confronted her that it was Mia’s cutter that was found in the victim’s place. She insisted that she has nothing to do with it since she was only spending time with her boyfriend Gio.

That’s the time she discovered that her boyfriend was indeed already dead and does not exist as how Mia described, and actually a ghost that fell in love with her. With this, she confronted Gio and there she had proved that that Gio together with his family were already dead. She also learned that Gio was responsible in the death of her bully school mate because he doesn’t want someone to hurt Mia.

Quinn also confessed that the cause of her isolation was Gio. He killed Quinn’s family when Quinn refuses to go with him as her dead boyfriend.

This led her to avoid Gio but he threatened Mia’s family and their lives in danger. Alvin who is also interested in Mia tried to rescue her from Gio that endangered his life.

The horror was only ended when Mia decided to jumped to a hole to save Alvin and her family. This is the time the rage of Gio was ended when she saved Mia from falling off because he loves him. The dead’s love remained the savior of Mia’s and her family’s lives.

Elemento (2016)

Elemento is a 2016 pinoy psychology horror movie about parenting and possessions. The movie stars Cristine Reyes as Cara and his son Albert Silos as Lucas. In Kara's childhood she always dreamed about wandering and running around the forest. Even if she already had a son, these dreams always come back to her. She also consulted a doctor to assess her dreams that kept on repeating every time she fell asleep.

As a single parent, Kara ensured that she can give good future to her son that’s why she worked hard. There are also times that she cannot spend quality time to her son due to her work as a real estate broker. Lucas’s father (Jake Cuenca) also cannot spend time on him because he has another girlfriend.

The horror started when Lucas goes to a school field trip and when got back Kara noticed some differences on him. Lucas usually complains when his mother will call him baby but this time he did not do it so Kara find this unusual. This time Lucas shows unusual behaviour like beating his bully classmate badly. His sweetness is also gone.

After noticing this behavior, their neighbor (Elizabeth Oropesa) also told Kara that the kid inside his house is not Lucas but a creature called “Tambal” which is an identical copy of his son. This happened when Lucas accidentally got lost in the forest during their field trip. The Tambal copied his looks and joined again to his classmates and got home. The real Lucas is actually still inside the forest wandering. An incident proved this claim when Lucas called Kara using his phone asking for help because he’s lost the forest.

Kara went back to the forest to rescue Lucas along with her gay friend and there she met and old folk that actually saved Lucas from being lost. But instead of letting Kara take her son, they captured her and let her son get out the forest. It was later discovered that the folks there are also Tambal creatures and Kara is actually one of them when she got lost in the forest in her childhood. The one who got the forest as Kara was actually a Tambal and the folks are no happy when she came back.

Elemento (2016)

Wang Fam (2015)

Wang Fam is a 2015 pinoy horror comedy movie starring the Aswang family Pokwang (Malou Wang), Benjie Paras (Boo Wang),  Andre Paras (Duke Wang), Abby Bautista (Kala Wang) and Alonzo Muhlach (Vey Wang).

This is a movie about a family of Aswang which chooses to live among humans without eating them.

The story started when Malou was scheduled to be offered to her elder Aswang queen. The queen wanted to use her body while she was still virgin as part of the Aswang prophecy. However, she fell in love to botanist Boo who was camping at their territory to do experiments on plants that could possible cure diseases. The two decided to secretly get married to avoid being used by the queen during body transfer.

During the ceremony in transferring the spirit of the queen to Malou’s body, his brother Jokjok (Wendell Ramos) wondered why it took more than four hours and the ritual was unsuccessful. Later, one of the elder Aswang revealed that Malou was already not a virgin that caused the ritual to fail. 

Boo rescued her and was also converted into Aswang after Malou bit him to fight evenly with the Aswang clan who tried to hurt them.

When the two escaped, they started a family and got three children Duke, Kala and Vey. They didn’t live their lives normally as they kept on transferring places to avoid being revealed as Aswangs. They later decided to transfer to Manila to live in Boo’s parents’ mansion.

When the family came, someone saw their forms as monsters and tried to tell it to everybody.  The neighbors tried to mock and tag them as Aswang but they always find a way to deny it to everybody despite their pale skin color. Duke also fell in love with their neighbor’s daughter. The children went to school as normal after Boo discovered an antidote to prevent the sun from burning them.

After few months, many were murdered within their place which was done by Malou’s brother Jokjok and his gang. The three monsters also lived in the boarding house of Wang family’s neighbor where they pretended to be call center agents who only go out by night.

Wang children discovered this and told their parents. Jokjok abducted Duke’s girlfriend in exchange for Kala who will be the replacement of Malou for the sacrifice as the eclipse is coming. With this, the family revealed their true identity to the neighbors and promised to help them save the kidnapped boarders.

Wang family saved them using holy water and their own strength as Aswang and they’ve defeated Jokjok and the other members of the clan. Vey also showed his might as a werewolf which ended the war against the Aswang clan.

Kulimlim (2004)

Kulimlim is a 2004 pinoy suspense movie starring Robin Padilla (Jake) and Tanya Garcia (Hannah). Kulimlim is a Filipino term for nightfall.

The movie talks about a loving father who is willing to do everything to protect his family but suddenly turn the other way around.

His family has a horrible past when Hannah was raped by three persons. The three were sent to jail after they were captured; however, they were released after few years in jail. With this, Jake sent his family to a far place where there is no communication to avoid the three suspects from getting back to them. He asked his uncle, a retired police officer to help him eliminate the three.

Upon releasing, the three suspects were taken by Jake uncle’s men and they were killed. This is where the story started when the spirits of the three suspects haunted and possessed Jake. All the attitude and gestures of the suspects get inside Jake’s body. Jake committed an accident way back home and this changed him. He came back home with a different personality and started to look for his son and disregarded his daughter.

Days go by and the incident changed him a lot. He started to hurt his daughter and his wife and only cared about his son. The kid was the result of the crime committed by the three suspects before. The demonic possession got worse and Jake started to teach his son about holding a gun and also about killing someone. In fact, one of their caretaker was killed when his son was possessed by demonic spirits.

Because of this, Hannah tried to protect her daughter and tried to save her son from her possessed husband. Hannah attempted to escape but was always caught by Jake. She tried to fight Jake and this led her daughter to escape and seek help from the neighbors.

After attempting to escape again, Hannah had almost got away but Jake chased her and her son. To stop Jake, she stabbed him with the metal cross that was given to her to protect her from any harm. Jake died before the police and the neighbors came to rescue them. They have stopped the danger but it seems not the end since her son was also possessed. 

Haunted Mansion (2015)

Haunted Mansion is a 2015 pinoy horror movie and an official entry to MMFF 2015. The movie stars Janella Salvador as Ella and few of the hottest young talents today.

This is a movie about the haunting of a black lady witch.

Ella in her childhood is weird since she possessed a third eye that can see all kinds of spirits. She even talked to her grandmother’s spirit few hours after she died. Her parents won’t believe her at first but after they have confirmed that indeed she could talk to the spirits or ghosts of the dead, they’ve keep it as secret but she was also the reason why her father died after calling her uncle’s spirit.

After her father died, she kept telling her younger brother and sister about the happy moments with her father when he was still alive.

At school, she’s been bullied by her classmates due to her being weird but she ignored it all the time. Ella also happens to have two suitors whom later became complicated because one is her friend Adrian (Marlo Mortel) who is secretly attracted to her and the other one is Jacob (Jerome Ponce) who was previously courting Megan (Ingrid Dela Paz) but always get neglected as part of Megan’s trick. This made Megan mad at her since Jacob was already started to be attracted to her.   

As part of their retreat, the students were taken to an old mansion which was already known for being horrible and mysterious due to different rumors about crying lady and black lady. They have been warned not to touch anything inside the mansion as they might disturb the spirits. At first, the student obeyed the rules but later they started to scare the others by wearing horrible masks and chasing the others.

This incident got the guys in trouble since Ella was scared by one of Jacob’s friends and Adrian defended her from them. The fight started but later stopped by Father Anthony (Dominic Ochoa) and Miss Gonzales (Janice de Belen) as their guardians in the retreat. But this was not the end of the guys’ play; they later tried to put a celfone inside the confessional room to record the black lady’s confession as what the rumors say.

The horrible thing happened when the phone successfully recorded the black lady’s confession. After Miss Gonzales and Faye (Sharlene San Pedro) died, they discovered that the evil black lady who is killing every one of them is not Veronica (LJ Reyes) as the rumored black lady in the confessional room but indeed Amara (Iza Calzado). Amara did not want everyone to know that she was responsible of Jaime’s (Joem Bascon) death, the boyfriend of Veronica. The death of Veronica was due to sorrow because of what Amara did, the reason she committed suicide after confessing the incident few years ago.

Since Ella can talk to spirits, she tried to talk to Veronica and Jaime in the spirit world and was informed to destroy or burn Amara’s remains to stop her from killing them all. Only Ella was left after Amara’s rage but she had managed to burn her partially. Ella was hospitalized and later taken home to rest since she also suffered amnesia due to the incident in the mansion.

However, after three months when her memory gets back, Amara also get back to her and nearly killed her since she had already risen from the dead but Ella again managed to take the rosary and placed on Amara. This burned her fully to ashes and Ella lived.

Haunted Mansion (2015)

Haunted Mansion is a 2015 pinoy horror movie and an official entry to MMFF 2015. The movie stars Janella Salvador as Ella and few of the hottest young talents today.

This a movie about haunting and the horrors within.

Ella in her childhood is weird since she possessed a third eye that can see all kinds of spirits. She even talked to her grandmother’s spirit few hours after she died. Her parents won’t believe her at first but after they have confirmed that indeed she could talk to the spirits or ghosts of the dead, they’ve keep it as secret but she was also the reason why her father died after calling her uncle’s spirit.

After her father died, she kept telling her younger brother and sister about the happy moments with her father when he was still alive.

At school, she’s been bullied by her classmates due to her being weird but she ignored it all the time. Ella also happens to have two suitors whom later became complicated because one is her friend Adrian (Marlo Mortel) who is secretly attracted to her and the other one is Jacob (Jerome Ponce) who was previously courting Megan (Ingrid Dela Paz) but always get neglected as part of Megan’s trick. This made Megan mad at her since Jacob was already started to be attracted to her.   

As part of their retreat, the students were taken to an old mansion which was already known for being horrible and mysterious due to different rumors about crying lady and black lady. They have been warned not to touch anything inside the mansion as they might disturb the spirits. At first, the student obeyed the rules but later they started to scare the others by wearing horrible masks and chasing the others.

This incident got the guys in trouble since Ella was scared by one of Jacob’s friends and Adrian defended her from them. The fight started but later stopped by Father Anthony (Dominic Ochoa) and Miss Gonzales (Janice de Belen) as their guardians in the retreat. But this was not the end of the guys’ play; they later tried to put a celfone inside the confessional room to record the black lady’s confession as what the rumors say.

The horrible thing happened when the phone successfully recorded the black lady’s confession. Buy Now, Die Later (2015)

Buy Now, Die Later is a 2015 pinoy comedy horror movie and one of the entries in Metro Manila Film Festival 2015 directed by Randolph Longjas. The movie is starred by Vhong Navarro as Odie – an aspiring photo journalist, Alex Gonzaga as Chloe – a rising star, Rayver Cruz as Ato – aspiring chef, John Lapus as Pippa – a gay wishing to be loved, Lotlot de Leon as Maita – Chloe’s mother, Janine Gutierrez as young Maita and TJ Trinidad as Santi – the evil antique shop owner.

This is a movie about the cursed antique customers and how they survived out of it.

Each character of this movie has its own horror story that is related to five senses - sense of sight (Masid), hearing (Dinig), smell (Halimuyak), touch (Kanti) and taste (Sarap) on how they got to buy one of the antique products of Santi. Upon buying anything, Santi has three conditions that the buyer needs to agree and sign the contract and it’s not as simple as that since after signing, the proof will be a cut on their palms that resembles an agreement to the devil. A deviation of the three terms will result to horrible and unwanted incidents to each of the buyers.

Masid – Odie dreamt of becoming a successful photo journalist; however, he’s very unfortunate when his camera was stolen during attempt capturing photos of a politician and his mistress. This is the time he came across with Santi’s antique shop and bought the antique camera that made him famous due to fresh scoops taken from murdered victims around the city. He also started to see shadows appearing randomly and tried to ignore it not knowing that deaths were triggered by him after deviating one of the three conditions.

Dinig – Chloe is an aspiring star who wanted to become popular with the encouragement of her mother; however, she failed the audition due to her singing imperfections. She bought the antique cellphone from the antique shop that made her popular and also deadly since everything she asked from the phone is given including the death of her competitor. She cannot anymore escape from the voice that’s always calling her and now made her life horrible.

Halimuyak – Pippa bought the antique perfume that made him very attractive to men due to unexplained scent. However, the men turned into zombie-looking men who always wanted to catch him and this made his life miserable.

Sarap – Ato bought the antique recipe booklet which has the powerful recipes that no one could beat. His restaurant became very popular due to the recipes but also turned him into a killer since the recipes mentioned in the booklet are not just natural foods but human’s internal organs.

Kanti – Maita missed her younger days after having her daughter Chloe. She bought the antique anti-aging cream that turned her into a young lady but it just makes her life dangerous when someone tried to rape her at the back of the bar.

They were all connected due to the agreement with the devil. Santi was defeated after they have broke the things inside the shop and burned the contracts.

Feng Shui 2 (2014)

Feng Shui 2 is a 2014 sequel of the previous 2004 release in which Kris Aquino (Joy) teams up with Coco Martin (Lester) to destroy the bagwa and its curse that caused their families’ and friends’ lives to be lost.

Joy already lived her life in peace after she lost her whole family and friends and the bagwa was transferred to another owner who also experienced luck in their lives. On the other hand, the last owner who possessed the bagwa was unfortunate when the whole family died because of the Lotus Feet’s curse.

The bagwa was taken by Mr. Liao (Joonee Gamboa) to the temple to keep it hidden from other possible owners and to keep anyone from danger. However, Lester - a hired thief stole the bagwa from the temple for money to support his mother which is an alcoholic. He turned over immediately the bagwa to the Chinese fellow who hired him. Unfortunately, he later found out that the bagwa already followed him home and now above their doorstep.

Lester started to get luck from it when he found a wallet with ATM card full of money but bad luck also happened to him in parallel when the gang in their place almost took his motorcycle triggering a fight which he survived temporarily. Another good luck came when his father visited them and took him and his mother to a new home. His father was new promoted in his job. Lester also ignored the SMS messages asking him to return the bagwa. But later after his mother and father make out in bed, his mother took some of the wine secretly, but due to the curse, his mother can’t stop drinking that caused the commotion inside the house. As a result, her mother died after falling in the backyard. Their lives have been cursed and will take them all once not stopped.

After the death of his mother, they again received luck when something is delivered to their house. Lester tried to destroy the bagwa by pounding a hammer on the floor but Joy came as a company representative and was shocked by what she saw. The bagwa has also been restored immediately and is again appeared above the door. She warned Lester to refuse the graces that they received while there is still time. Joy also sensed some strange things around her and Mr. Liao told her that bagwa again found her.

Together they teamed up with Lily (Cherry Pie Picache), a previous owner to look for the bagwa and destroy it but they were only tricked by her when she intentionally lied that the bagwa did not come back to her house. Later, Lily also died after the Lotus Feet appeared. Lester was also shot by Joy’s fiancé after getting the bagwa from Joy’s door. Lester, Joy and Mr. Liao tried hard to get back the bagwa to the temple to destroy it but they encountered trouble in the street causing Mr. Liao to be stabbed to death.

At last, Joy and Lester made it to the temple and destroyed the bagwa together but Joy later discovered that it was indeed only Lester’s spirit who helped her. She found Lester’s body on the doorstep of the temple that means he actually didn’t make it physically. The bagwa’s cursed was successfully stopped but she suspected that her fiancé also died in the street that they left to reach the temple.

Tumbok (2011)

Tumbok is a 2011 pinoy horror movie about hauntings in a condominium unit starring Cristine Reyes (Grace) and Carlo Aquino (Ronnie). Tumbok is believed to be a bad Feng Shui. This location is in T-junction wherein you door is facing the road that is pointing to your direction. Properties built in this location (tumbok houses) will experience lots of bad lucks.

When Ronnie’s father died, a lawyer handed him a document claiming some property in Manila. It is a condominium where they used to live before when he’s still a kid. With this, the couple decided to move there to build a family of their own and also to take advantage of the place.

Upon transferring, Mark (Ryan Eigenmann) introduced the place in which Ronnie could not remember anymore what had happened before in that place. Mark also claimed that his family and Ronnie’s were business partners and he was tasked to save the place for Ronnie.

In the first day of their stay, Grace already saw and sensed many strange things in the building such crying baby, child entering in their unit and so with weird neighbors. She told Ronnie about those things but he didn’t believe her. After few days some bad things happened when their student neighbors died due to explosion caused by leaking tank gas. Also, Grace also dreamed about Mark forcing her in bed.

Ronnie’s cousin Lumen (LJ Moreno) came to their place and told Grace that there are many misfortunes to be experienced in that building since the location of the place is right at the center surrounded by other buildings. This tumbok beliefs lead them to perform a candle session with the unit as part of tumbok tips learned by Lumen. Lumen was also warned by their kid neighbor to take care but she didn’t take it seriously on her way out of the building. Later, Lumen was killed by a mad man outside cutting her head off with a bolo.

Grace also learned from her neighbor that Ronnie’s mother is still alive and currently in a mental ward. The story was - Ronnie’s mother killed his sister when he was a kid claiming that they are not her kids but instead from the devil. This is the reason why Ronnie and his father migrated to the province to live peacefully away from his ruthless mother.

Bad things happened in the next few days where Ronnie and his drunkard neighbor had a fight. Mark also appeared and claimed that he is Ronnie’s father and he was the devil as mentioned by his mother. Mark said that things will happen over and over again in that building since he is Ronnie’s father and connected with the devil. He also claimed that the child in Grace’s womb is Ronnie’s brother and not his son. The story revealed that what happened with Ronnie’s mother will also happen to Grace.

To end this, Ronnie committed suicide but the things that Mark had mentioned indeed happened to Grace and she turned out to be insane claiming that it’s the devil’s child which needs to be killed. The horror in that building remained unstoppable as the new tenants came to live there. 

Shake Rattle & Roll XV (2014)

 
Shake Rattle & Roll XV  is a 2014 pinoy horror movie that is composed of three stories namely “Ahas”, “Ulam” and “Flight 666”.

Ahas

The movie stars Erich Gonzales as the twin sisters Sandra and Sarah (Ahas/snake). The story started when Troy’s (JC de Vera) wife (Solenn Heusaff) was suddenly locked out inside a fitting room of a famous mall and killed by the lady snake Sarah in the basement. This incident led Troy to seek for reasons on why his wife didn’t come back. He worked in the mall and also became the love interest of Sandra, the mall owner’s (Alberto/Ariel Rivera) daughter.

Sandra was about to celebrate her 25th birthday when suddenly Sarah escaped from the basement of the mall where she was hidden. Sarah is half human and half snake in which fed by bad shoppers that shoplifts things from the mall. She already killed many of them after she had accidentally tried to eat human when someone fell off the basement. She was also in love with Troy after seeing him wandering at the mall.

Alberto tried to kill Sarah to stop her after what she had done to people despite the riches that she had given to the mall. Unfortunately, Alberto was killed by her snake daughter while Sandra couldn’t do anything. Later, Sarah was killed by Troy after being swallowed alive and finds his way out slashing the snake's stomach.

Ulam

This story stars Carla Abellana (Aimee) and Dennis Trillo (Henry). The couple decided to go back to their ancestral house with their daughter Julie in which only the caretaker Aling Lina lives there. After few days of staying there, the couple continuously had misunderstanding that also affected their daughter.

The couple was served by caretaker with delicious foods but they didn’t let their kid eat it. Later the two suffered too much craving of eating fresh meats and other animal flesh which they could not control anymore. This resulted to Aimee to be more violent and nearly killed their daughter causing her to be rushed for medication.

Aimee also become more violent and stabbed the nurses and doctors in the hospital and found her way to go home. The coupled was in trouble while Aling Lina watches them along with her hidden hunchback son who helped her capture Julie. They fought while Aling Lina revealed that she did it to them to avenge the cruelty of Henry’s grandparents to her in which her hunchback son was indeed Henry’s grandfather’s son.

The couple hurt each other due to the potion given to them but later got their sanity and Aling Lina’s son was killed and so with Henry. Luckily, Aimee and Julie lived.

Flight 666

The story stars Lovi Poe as Karen  and Matteo Guidicelli as Dave. They were previously a couple but they broke up due to the accidentally aborted child of Karen.

The two met again in a plane not knowing the danger that this flight will brought to them. On board are mix of personalities from social, professional, geeks and a secret hijacker. Inside the plane, a lady was about to give birth to her son which was later discovered that it was a sibling of an unknown creature in their province that are believed to be enchanted and powerful.

In line with this incident, a hijacker who was a previous employee of the plane company also declared his intention that shocked the passengers. He did this because he was recently terminated and now coming back for money.

On the other hand, the pregnant lady successfully gave birth to her son with the assistance of Dave but was very unfortunate because the baby died upon delivery. However, along with the troubles in the plane, the passengers were terrified after seeing dead co-passengers which was indeed done by the dead baby who turned into a monster (tiyanak) who moves fast and killed each of the passengers inside the plane. Once the baby is hit by the moonlight, it turns into a normal baby but will revert into a monster once covered by darkness. They tried to fight the evil baby but some only died. Later, the survivors have managed to escape after landing and the plane exploded.

Third Eye (2014)

Third Eye is a 2014 pinoy suspense movie starring Carla Abellana (Mylene) and Ejay Falcon (Jimmy). The movie talks about the love, relationship and betrayal that caused them to experience the unwanted danger.

Mylene in her younger years has third eye open that caused her to see strange things but was later closed by her grandmother for her safety and everything went normal after it was closed.

When she met Jimmy, they fell in love and later got married. They lived happily but despite her being lovable and thoughtful wife is the betrayal of Jimmy. Jimmy has an affair with another woman who conceived his child beyond Mylene’s knowledge. Later, Mylene discovered Jimmy’s secret after answering Janet’s (Denise Laurel) call thru Jimmy’s phone and also saw him once with his other 

woman. This resulted to a conclusion that indeed Jimmy has another woman.

Mylene confronted Jimmy regarding this but he is still on denial and just walked out avoiding the topic to be talked about. After Jimmy walked out, Mylene follows him while he’s on his way to pick Janet who was already pregnant. On the way, Mylene and Janet got lost after taking a wrong route to their destination while Mylene is still following them.

Unfortunately, they got lost in the woods and tried to ask help from a resident but Jimmy was just hit with a wedge leaving him seriously wounded. Mylene tried to rescue them but he was chased by the husband of the attacker. Janet was also captured by the strange woman who attacked them and took her to the house. Despite their knowing, the place where they are is the home of cannibals who liked to eat flesh from humans.

Another purpose of the woman in taking Janet is her child which will be used in a ritual to revive her dead husband who is lying inside the house. The blood of Janet together with her child will be fed to the woman’s dead husband.

Mylene successfully engaged the house of the woman and rescued Janet but before she was rescued, the blood was already poured over the dead man that caused him to be revived in which was witnessed by their son. They’ve managed to escape after killing the woman but Jimmy was seriously wounded that made him suggest to leave him alone while the attackers are on the chase to save Mylene and Janet. The revived man killed Jimmy and still chases Mylene and Janet. However, Janet didn’t make it after giving birth in the woods and only Mylene successfully escaped from the vicinity of cannibals.

Police have recovered evidence that people living in that area are cannibals but none was left in the area. The cannibals migrated searching for other place to stay having the revived man with them. They also attacked civilians along the way who was also pregnant.

Mylene raised Janet’s child and sometimes haunted by the ghost of the cannibal woman but she knew that it’s only a ghost and cannot harm them anymore. This made her continue living her life peacefully with Janet’s child.
